Mediation Services
I began winding down my law practice and building my mediation practice in 2006. Since then I have mediated roughly 100 cases, most focused on business and commercial disputes. I also mediate interpersonal conflicts outside the family law area.
Particularly, I mediate litigated disputes between:
- Buyers and sellers of companies, business assets and real estate
- Stockholders, partners, LLC members and other business stakeholders
- Landlords and tenants of commercial and residential property
- Employers and employees
- Lenders and borrowers
- Merchants and customers
- Providers and consumers of commercial and professional services
- Franchisors and franchisees
- Manufacturers and distributors/dealers
- Owners and users of trademarks and copyrights
I also mediate conflicts that have not evolved into litigation between:
- Employers and employees
- Neighbors or members of neighborhood associations
- Members of non-profit and faith-based organizations
- Family members
- Business owners and stakeholders
My mediation toolkit contains tools I gathered from a variety of sources. I have training and experience in the caucus model of mediation, which emphasizes problem-solving skills and techniques designed to narrow and bridge disputes over money. I also have training and experience in the community model of mediation, which emphasizes the facilitation of party exploration of mutual interests in joint session. Finally, I have training and experience in narrative mediation, a relatively new approach that recognizes the way people use stories not only to describe their experiences but to create reality and meaning.
I offer half-day, full-day and multi-day mediations. I conduct mediations in Austin, Texas at a mutually convenient place the parties select. If necessary, I will also travel anywhere in the United States to mediate a dispute.
